Vienna’s bikeshare system reaches 500,000 users mark

Citybike Wien, Vienna’s bikeshare system that already started back in 2003, recently surpassed the 500,000 registered users mark. Today, it records more than 750,000 trips amounting to more than 2.5 million kilometers each year.

With 118 stations with 2,999 boxes and 1,450 bikes, Citybike Wien has become an essential and affordable (EUR 1 registration fee, first hour of each trip free) part of Vienna’s transport system and has been exported to more than 60 other cities by its operator Gewista/JCDecaux.
